Mit dem Album "Synthsyg" der Gruppe "Carboneids" präsentieren die beiden Dänen Claus Holm Lynglund & Bjørn Jeppesen ihr Debutalbum auf dem Musiklabel MellowJet Records. Das Duo fand bereits 1998 zusammen. Björn Jeppesen, Macher seines Soloprojekts "Nattefrost" und Radiomoderator der Sendung "Elektroland", verläßt dabei etwas seine gewohnten EM-Gefilde. Neben klassischen Elektronik-Klängen wird das Album hauptsächlich durch rythmische Songs und einmalige Vocoder-Sounds dominiert. Alle Tracks überzeugen durch ihren eigenwilligen Pop-Character und ähneln zum Teil recht stark an den frühen Sound von Depeche Mode.
Freunde des 80th-Elektro-Synthi-Pop kommen dabei voll auf ihre Kosten. Aber auch Freunde klassischer EM werden die analogen Klangwelten von Carboneids schätzen und schnell die Liebe zum Detail erkennen.
With their album "Synthsyg" of the group "Carboneids" the two Danes Claus Holm Lynglund and Bjørn Jeppesen present their debut-album at MellowJet Records. The duo works together since 1998. Bjørn Jeppesen with his solo project "Nattefrost" and anchorman of the broadcast "Elektroland", leaves his familiar EM-fields. Besides classical electronical sounds the album is dominated by rhythmic songs and unique vocoder-sounds. All tracks persuade by their opinionated pop-character and remind us of the early sound of Depeche Mode. Friends of the 80th-Electro-Synthi-Pop get their money worth. But also friends of classical EM will admire the analogue sound-worlds of Carboneids and recognize their love for details.

[...Carboneids nennt sich das nordische Duo Claus Holm Lynglund & Bjørn Jeppesen (auch bekannt als Nattefrost). Bereits 1998 begannen die beiden mit ihrer Zusammenarbeit, damals aber noch unter dem Namen 99 Nidding. Auf ihrem zweiten Carboneids-Album „Synthsyg“, das bereits 2005 bei HZ Records erschienen ist und jetzt seine weiterführende Veröffentlichung über MellowJet Records findet, bieten sie eine Elektronikmusik deren Schnittpunkt irgendwo bei Kraftwerk, Roboterwerke und Yellow Magic Orchestra mit einem Schuss Elektropop liegt.
Etwas schräge Melodiefolgen mit treibenden Beats unterlegt irritieren zunächst beim ersten Stück „Chinabox Visions“, doch schnell bekommen sie den Dreh und es entwickeln sich tolle Melodien, die sehr schnell den Weg in die Gehörgänge finden. Dabei kommen die Stücke nicht über 5:11 Minuten hinaus, was sie auch von der Länge sehr radiotauglich machen. Auch mit verfremdeter Stimme eingebauter Sprechgesang ist ein Stilelement, dass sie beim ein oder anderen Stück benutzen und das sehr gut ins Gesamtbild passt. Immer mal wieder blitzen die oben erwähnten Gruppen als Blaupause für die einzelnen Stücke durch. Trotz alledem schaffen die beiden Dänen es, eine sehr homogene und gute Kombination aus unterschiedlichen Stilelementen zu erstellen, die eine eigene Handschrift aufweist.
Mit Carboneids ist MelowJet ein guter Fang gelungen. Diesen Namen sollte man sich merken. Denn trotz der Tatsache, dass einem einzelne Passagen bekannt vorkommen, klingt das ganze doch recht frisch. [It’s quite a surprise to hear Nattefrost out of his progressive electronic element. Since 1998 Bjorn Jeppesen (Nattefrost) and Claus Holm Lynglund form Carboneids. A duet which offers a very harmonious technoid music, with an increased use of vocoders, plunging in the territories of Kraftwerk and Depeche Mode, but with a ethereal and less mechanical touch. Chinabox Visions starts in strength with hesitant sequences which explode on a heavy and nervous rhythm. The musical structure surprisingly points out Michael Hoenig’s Xcept One, with vocodor in addition who sticks to the robot-like harmonies of Kraftwerk. Digital Landscapes brings a more fluid tempo on a very melodious synth, which offers a puff of panpipes, on a light and lyrical structure. We find here the synthesized keys of Nattefrost on beautiful percussions sequences. A great track which flows like a soft 2000’s TD. After a soft and undulating intro, Kredslob becomes more mechanical with slightly anvil percussions, like Depeche Mode, on a beautiful structure finely coated with a melodious approach. Moreover throughout Synthsyg, the Scandinavian duet offers melodic and hanging structures, and this it does not matter if the style is nevrotic and syncopated, as on Galactic Collisions and the ghostly Abstinens Synthomer.
Ute I nNattoj leans on a more progressive and jazzy approach, while being very airy. A semi soft title which is a fusion between moderate techno and a progressive jazz which could be compared with titles like All she said was... and Synthsyg. Hesitant sequences on nebulous synths, Phasers runs harmoniously on a minimalist robot-like beat with ethereal synthetic background, whereas I am the Mystical Space is more orchestral and progressive.
Carboneids’s Synthsyg is a cd crawling of robotic rhythms with a vocoder overdose. Good moderate good techno, with good sequences and wrapping synths where harmonies and rhythms hookers amalgamate wonderfully with approaches as much conventional as progressive and daring.

 [Toute une surprise que de voir Nattefrost hors de son élément électronique progressif. Depuis 1998 Bjorn Jeppesen (Nattefrost) et Claus Holm Lynglund forment Carboneids. Un duo qui offre une musique technoïde très harmonieuse, avec une utilisation accrue de vocodeurs, plongeant ainsi dans les territoires de Kraftwerk et Depeche Mode, mais avec une touche plus éthérée, moins mécanique. Chinabox Visions démarre en force avec des séquences hésitantes qui explosent sur un rythme lourd et nerveux. La structure musicale rappelle étonnamment Xcept One de Michael Hoenig, avec vocodeur en plus qui colle aux harmonies robotiques de Kraftwerk. Digital Landscapes amène un tempo plus fluide sur un synthé très mélodieux, qui offre une bouffée de flûte de pan, avec une structure légère et lyricale. On retrouve la touche synthétisée de Nattefrost sur de belles séquences percussionnées. Un beau titre qui coule comme un doux TD des années 2000. Après une intro molle et ondulante, Kredslob devient plus mécanique avec des percussions légèrement enclumées, à la Depeche Mode, sur une belle structure finement enrobée d’une approche mélodieuse. D’ailleurs tout au long de Synthsyg, le duo Scandinave offre des structures mélodieuses et accrochantes, et ce peu importe si le style est névrotique et syncopée, comme sur Galactic Collisions et le fantomatique Abstinens Synthomer. Ute I nattoj penche sur une approche jazzy plus progressive, tout en étant très aérienne. Un titre mi doux qui est une fusion entre un techno modéré et une approche jazzy progressive qui se compare à des titres comme All she said was … et Synthsyg. Séquences hésitantes sur synthé nébuleux, Phasers coule harmonieusement sur un beat minimaliste robotique avec un fond synthétique éthéré, alors que I am the Mystical Space est plus orchestrale et progressif. Synthsyg de Carboneids est un album grouillant de rythmes robotiques avec une surdose de vocodeurs. Du bon techno modéré, avec de bonnes séquences et des synthés enveloppants où harmonies et rythmes accrocheurs fusionnent à merveille avec des approches autant conventionnelles que progressives et audacieuses.
