Mit "Cosmoclimax", das man sinngemäß mit "kosmischer Höhepunkt" übersetzen kann, zeigt uns moonbooter, dass seine typisch rhythmusbetonte und tanzbare Elektronische Musik auch in liegender Position funktioniert. Zur Erklärung: Die Musik auf seinem neuen Album wurde für ein Livekonzert im Planetarium Bochum komponiert, welches Bernd am 14. Januar 2009 vor ausverkauftem Haus uraufführte. Mit melancholischen Melodien, treibenden Percussions, breiten Chören, eingängigen Sequenzen und einer gekonnte Mixtur aus elektronischen und akustischen Klängen entführt uns moonbooter hin zu unbekannten Galaxien. Jeder Song besitzt mehrerer Spannungsbögen und endet meist ganz anders, als das Intro zunächst vermuten ließ. Einige Songs klingen zunächst poppig um dann im nächsten Moment wieder in einer Homage an die klassische EM zu enden. Bernd nähert sich dieses Mal auf eine ganz andere aber trotzdem für ihn typische Art dem Thema "Weltraum", und lässt dabei technische Aspekte weit hinter sich. Auch in Punkto Klang fällt "Cosmoclimax" dem interessierten Gehör sofort durch seine Transparenz und vielen verstecken Details auf, die dieses Album auch nach wiederholtem Hören zu einem spannenden Erlebnis werden lassen.

ein paar persönliche Produktionsnotizen von Bernd: "Im Januar 2008, kurz vor der Fertigstellung meines letzten Albums "Lunatic Voyage", machte ich mir bereits erste Gedanken zum Leit-Thema für´s nächste Album. Dies war die Geburtsstunde der Idee "Cosmoclimax", bei dem die Songs mehrere, aneinander gereihte Höhepunkte haben sollten. Gleichzeitig musste die Musik in einem Planetarium funktionieren, da sich ein Konzert für 2009 bereits in der Planung befand. Während der nächsten Monate produzierte ich die Musik ausschließlich im abgedunkelten Studio mit Stellarium-Animationen, die ich via Beamer an die Wände projizierte. Nach kurzer Zeit erkannte ich, dass es nicht möglich war, meinen rhythmusbetonten Stil aufzugeben. Ich erkannt, dass sanft treibende Rhythmen auch in bequemer Liegeposition funktionieren können: Übertreiben darf ich es nur nicht. Also habe ich den Schwerpunkt auf Melodien und Sequenzen gelegt, die ich mit Chören und letztendlich Vocals untermalte. Zusätzlich bekamen die Drums eine Portion mehr Epos und Bombast. Nachdem ich die neue Musik am 14. Februar 2009 im Planetarium Bochum erfolgreich live uraufgeführt hatte, bin ich trotz eines "kreativen Lochs" ins Studio gegangen: Denn ein Song fehlte mir irgendwie noch. Ein paar Tage später war dann "Down back to my soul" fertig, ein Song, der mir persönlich besonders am Herzen liegt."
With „Cosmoclimax“ moonbooter proves that his typical rhythm-oriented and danceable Electronic Music also works in a lying position. What does that mean: The music of his latest album has been composed for a live-concert at Planetarium Bochum, which Bernd presented in public first on February 14th, 2009 to a capacity crowd.
With melancholic melodies, driving percussions, broad choirs, catchy sequences and a skilful mixture of electronic and acoustic sounds moonbooter abducts us to unknown galaxies. Each song holds several bows and mostly ends differently than expected after the intro. At first. some songs sound trendy but then end up in a homage to classical EM. This time, Bernd approaches his typical theme “space” in a different way this time and leaves technical aspects far behind. Concerning sound, “Cosmoclimax” offers to the interested auditory a special transparency and many hidden details, which make this album an exciting experience also after repeated hearing.

A few personal production notes from Bernd: „In January 2008, just before finishing my last album “Lunatic Voyage” I was thinking about the main theme for my next album. This was the hour of birth of the idea “Cosmoclimax”, where the songs should contain many arranged climaxes. At the same time the music had to work at a Planetarium, as a concert for 2009 was already scheduled. During the following months I only produced the music in my dimmed studio with stellarium-animations which a beamer projected towards the walls. After a short time I recognised that I was not able to give up my rhythm oriented style. I realised that smoothly driving rhythms could work in a comfortable lying position as well: if I did not exaggerate! So I put the focus on melodies and sequences, which I accompanied with choirs and vocals. Additionally the drums obtained more epos and bombast. After I performed the new music on February 14th, 2009 for the first time at Planetarium Bochum successfully, I returned to my studio despite a “creative hole”: one song was still missing somehow. A few days passed and I finished “Down back to my soul”, a song that is very close to my heart.
