Eine Kamera überwacht den Geldautomaten und soll Räuber abschrecken.
Aber auch in Supermärkten, auf öffentlichen Plätzen, sogar
in Bussen und Bahnen wird gefilmt und aufgezeichnet. Die Vision einer totalen
Überwachung aus George Orwell's Roman „1984“ ist Jahrzehnte später
auf subtilere Weise Wirklichkeit geworden. Ob Mobiltelefon, GPS oder Satelliten
- überall gilt: „Big Brother is watching you“.
Obwohl es sich nicht um ein
Konzeptalbum handelt, zieht sich die Thematik wie ein roter Faden durch
diese Produktion. Angefangen bei dem ironisch gemeinten "Wave and smile"
bis zum Titel "Street View", der mit seinen Geräuschkollagen zugleich
eine Hommage an Thirsty Moons "Big City" darstellt. Es ist kein Wunder,
dass da auch mal düstere Klänge angeschlagen werden. BACK TO
THE MOON verwendet vorwiegend Synthesizer und Sampling, aber auch E-Gitarre
und Gesangs-Passagen prägen den Sound der durchweg kraftvollen und
abwechslungsreichen Titel auf diesem Album.
A camera is observing an ATM machine to keep robbers away. But also in
super markets, at public places, even in busses and trains surveillance
cameras are watching and recording. The vision of total supervision from
George Orwell's novel „1984“ became reality decades later in a more subtle
way. Mobile phones, GPS, satellites: „Big Brother is watching you“ every
where.
Although this is not a concept
album the subject is running like a red line through the whole production.
Beginning with the ironical "Wave and smile" and ending with the sound
collage of "Street View" which is also a tribute to Thirsty Moon's "Big
City". No wonder sometimes gloomy sounds appear. BACK TO THE MOON is using
mostly synthesizers and sampling technology, but the electric guitar and
some vocal parts also belong to the powerful and diversified sound of the
whole album. |
