BACK TO THE MOON ist ein elektronisches Musikprojekt, das Gitarrensounds
und Gesangsparts mit einbezieht. Hinter dem Projekt steht der Musiker Jürgen
Drogies aus Bremen.
Nach ersten Erfahrungen in
Schülerbands gründete Jürgen zusammen mit seinem Bruder
Norbert Drogies die Band "Thirsty Moon", von der zwischen 1972 und 1980
auf dem legendären Krautrock-Label "Brain" fünf Alben veröffentlicht
wurden. 1981 gründeten die Brüder ein 8-Spur-Studio für
Demo-Aufnahmen und die Entwicklung eigener Ideen. Mit der Anschaffung eines
Moog Prodigy und eines Roland Juno 60 begann Jürgens Leidenschaft
für elektronische Instrumente. Erster Hardware-Sequenzer war der Roland
MC-202. Der Commodore C 64 Computer mit MIDI-Interface erweiterte
die Möglichkeiten; die Entwicklung führte später über
den Atari-ST zum Apple Macintosh als digitaler Audio-Workstation.
In den 1980er und 90er-Jahren
komponierte und produzierte Jürgen Werbemusik und arbeitete mit verschiedenen
Künstlern zusammen. Als Komponist war er an einigen erfolgreichen
Songs des Singer/Songwriters Dirk Busch beteiligt, mit dem er auch gemeinsam
1997 die deutschen Liedtexte zum Animationsfilm "Anastasia" schrieb.
Im Jahr 2006 wurden vier
der LPs von "Thirsty Moon" auf CD wieder veröffentlicht. Das war der
Auslöser für Jürgen's Wunsch, wieder etwas "ganz Eigenes"
zu machen. Am Computer entstanden Kompositionen zu denen er nach langer
Zeit wieder Gitarre spielte und auch einige Gesangsparts aufnahm. Das Projekt
wurde in Anlehnung an den früheren Bandnamen "Back to the moon" genannt.
Das erste Album "Dreamcatcher", das vorwiegend Weltraum-Themen verarbeitet,
wurde 2007 bei Syngate Records veröffentlicht.
2010 erschien das zweite
Album "Street View" bei Mellow Jet Records. Wie der Titel schon sagt, ist
hier der Blick mehr auf die Erde gerichtet. Hauptthema ist die Kameraüberwachung
am Boden und durch Satelliten.
BACK TO THE MOON is an Electronic Music project including guitar sounds
and vocal parts. The man behind this project is Jürgen Drogies from
Bremen, Germany.
After first experiences with
bands as a pupil Jürgen founded "Thirsty Moon" together with his brother
Norbert. Between 1972 and 1980 five albums of this group have been released
by the legendary "Krautrock"-label "Brain".
1981 the two brothers started
an 8-track recording studio for demos and for the development of new ideas.
With the purchase of a Moog Prodigy and a Roland Juno 60 synthesizer Jürgen’s
passion for electronic instruments began. His first hardware sequencer
was the Roland MC-202. A Commodore C 64 computer with a MIDI-interface
expanded the capabilities and was replaced later by the Atari ST and after
that by the Apple Macintosh as digital audio workstation.
During the 1980ies and 90ies
Jürgen composed and produced music for commercials and collaborated
with various artists. As a composer he participated on some successful
songs by singer/songwriter Dirk Busch who was also his partner in writing
the German lyrics for the animation film “Anastasia” in 1997.
In 2006 four LPs by “Thirsty
Moon” were re-released on CD. That was the cause for Jürgen’s wish
to create his own musical project. The compositions were developed on the
computer and after a long break he returned to playing electric guitar
and also recorded some vocal parts. In reference to the old band “Thirsty
Moon” the project was named “Back to the moon”. The first album “Dreamcatcher”
mainly concentrated on space themes and was released by Syngate Records
in 2007.
In 2010 the second album
“Street View” was released by Mellow Jet Records. According to the title
it is more “down to earth”. It is about cameras watching people on the
ground and from satellites in the sky. |
